From Sasebo Station, the MR runs from north to west and the JR runs from south to east. MR operates small single-car trains. It is a ring route that goes through the center of the city, runs through the northern part of Nagasaki such as Saza-cho and Matsuura City, passes through Imari City and Arita-cho famous as the home of pottery in Saga and returns to Sasebo. Fares are paid in cash when you get off the train.
Meanwhile, JR operates trains destined mainly for Nagasaki and Fukuoka, and an advance purchase ticket is required before boarding. It is also convenient for traveling from Huis Ten Bosch to Sasebo Station. |

Two bus companies operate in Sasebo: The City Bus and Saihi Bus. The City Bus mainly operates in the city and the Saihi Bus operates in the surrounding areas as well as the city.
Beware that both the City Bus and Saihi Bus do not have signs in English or announcements in foreign languages (Only available at Sasebo Station.) The bus terminals in front of Sasebo Station are separated by destination. If you require information, ask at the bus centers of both bus companies in front of Sasebo Station.
There is a shuttle bus service (City Bus. Paid) that runs 6 times a day from in front of Sasebo Station for Saikai Pearl Sea Center in Kujuku Islands. For Huis Ten Bosch, use the grey and navy Saihi Bus in grey. Be aware that the bus stops differ depending on the bus at Sasebo Station.

Most taxis in Sasebo City are small taxis. The base fare (up to 2km) differs by region, but in Sasebo it is ¥560 up to 2km. The fare increases by the distance traveled. Late night fare at an additional 20% applies between 22:00 and 05:00.
Although the taxi fare in Japan is not cheap compared to other countries, but since the famous sites in Sasebo are dotted around the city, the taxi is convenient if you wish to visit several places in one day. There is also a tour guide service provided by the taxi drivers. The fare could be surprisingly cheaper per person, since one vehicle could take up to four passengers. Some taxi companies have English speaking drivers so ask the Taxi Association for information.
